Announced from Phoenix, AZ
Phoenix, AZ — July 2, 2024. Coding in Color has been named a Microsoft TechSpark Fellow for 2024-2025 and awarded a $50,000 grant. We were the only organization chosen to represent the state of Arizona.
The fellowship recognizes contributions to technology education and digital skills development. For us it recognizes a specific thing: that 550 or more Arizona students a year get computer science from us because their school does not offer it, and 76% of them have no engineer or STEM professional at home to ask.
The grant funds the work directly. It supports our coding workshops, summer camps, hackathons and after-school programs, reaching students in both rural and urban Arizona communities.
What the grant funds
Every program below is free to the student. The grant is part of why.
Coding workshops
Hands-on builds: games, full websites, art made with code.
Summer camps
A week of circuits, robotics, data science and AI.
Hackathons
Students ship something real, then present it.
After-school programs
Ongoing instruction in the districts we partner with.
Grants get us started. Donors keep us running.
The TechSpark grant funded a year of programs. The students keep coming.
